WEDDING

DECK—ROCKEL. A quiet wedding of much interest was solemnised by the Rev. O. Blundell at :’t. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, New Plymouth, on Tuesday, December 18, v. hen Miss Mavis Rockel, only (laughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Rockel, Gover Street, was married to Mr. Max Deck, son of Dr. and Mrs. 11. Deck, of Motueka. The bride, wearing a lovely gown of ivory satin broche with pearl ornaments and shoes to match, and carrying a sheaf of liliea, was given away by her father. She wore an exquisite veil hand embroidered in point lace, the work ot the chief bridesmaid. The bridesmaids in attendance were Miss Lucy Deck, sister of the bridegroom, Alison McGregor, cousin of the bride, and Ann Brodie. The former wore a Russian gold silk frock and carried a bouquet of blue delphiniums, and the little maids wore champagne tucked organdi frocks and carried posies of blue, all wearing bands of flowers to tone. Each bridesmaid wore a. string of pearls, the gift of the bridegroom, who was attended by Mr. Hugh McWilliam. The bride’s mother was charmingly attired in a three-piece mole crepe-de-chine frock and black hat, as also was Mrs. Deck, the bridegroom’s mother, in grey and cerise silk costume with black and white hat. The former carried a pink and mauve bouquet, and the latter a cerise bouquet. After the ceremony a number of relatives from different parte of New Zealand were entertained by Mr. and Mrs. Rockel at their residence, “Rangitikei.” Mr. and Mrs. Deck left for the north, the bride travelling in a brown and blue Liberty silk frock and fawn ribbon hat, with shoes and stockings to match and a velour coat. The church had been prettily decorated by friends of the .bride. ’ Mr. Hay presided at the organ.
