This weeks’ issue of the N.Z. Sporting and Dramatic Review will make a special appeal at this time of the year, as the illustrations cover all that is interesting in summer pastimes. An animated page appear with snapshots at the big tennis match between New South Wales and Auckland. The centre pages are occupied with notable society events in Paris, including the Versailles wedding, and topical happenings in France, England and America, embracing incidents from baseball to political doings. A unique series depicts the members of the Lyall Bay Surf Club, Wellington, giving a demonstration of rescue work, while the Manawatu bowlers on the visit to Wellington are caught in interesting attitudes. Keen interest will be taken in the photographs of Mr. Bonar Law’s funeral. The current theatrical and motion picture happenings are liberally dealt with. A Medical correspondent of the London Times says it is merely grotesque to say that a man enjoying a pipe is “sucking in poison.” Such statements serve only to reveal the fanaticism of the authors.
