AUCKLAND VISITORS. S’LAY AT NEW PLYMOUTH. MATCHES THIS AFTERNOON. Four prominent Auckland tennis players who are journeying south to take part In the New Zealand lawn tennis championsnip meeting, beginning at -Christchurch on Boxing Day, are travelling via Te Kuiti, and will spend to'day and to-morrow in New Plymouth. Messrs. Bartleet, Robson and Griffiths, tne three leading players on the Auckland ranking, and Clark, who is twelfth man, are the players. The visit is entirely unofficial. The Aucklanders will he entertained privately during the early part of this afternoon, but at 4 p.m. exhibition matches will be played at the New r Plymouth Club’s courts against Messrs. Nicholson and Webster, and amongst themselves. These games should be particularly attractive. The three leading players represented Auckland against New South Wales recently, Bartleet and Griffiths beating and Goodman respectively, whilst Robson loit to Poulton.
