EVERYBODY’S. WESLEY BARRY IX “RAGS TO RICHES.” He was only a little chap, yet, despite the luxury in which he was surrounded, he longed for the ragged trousera, the bare feet, and the unwashed face of the urchin. A book of adventure added the final epark, and how the child of the wealthy Blake-Clarkes obtained his natural desire for the nongal, vigorous life of boyhood is graphically portrayed by the 'brilliant juvenile actor, Wesley Barry, in “Rags to Riches,” the star production of the new programme which commenced at Everybody’s Theatre last night. Without decrying his other wonderful pictures, it is not too much to say that Wesley does some of the finest acting of his yoqng career in thia picture. Here ia the same befreckled, fun-loving, mischievous lad who delighted thousands in “Heroes of the Street.” A brilliant screen production of Xew York’s underworld, and society cabaret life is “Anna Ascends,” starring Alice Brady, which is the second feature on the programme. THE PEOPLE’S. TOM MIX TO-NIGHT. Tom Mix, the popular William Fox star, gathers additional laurels in his latest picture, “Tom Mix in Arabia,” a fast combination of thrills and laughter, which was shown at the People’s Theatre last night. Good as the other Alix pictures have been, this is probably the most entertaining of the lot. As usual, Mix takes a number of chances that are real thrillers. But the thrills, many of them as there are, are outnumbered by the laughs- Mix starts as a ranch owner who, through a series of strange circumstances, goes to Arabia, where is taken for the heir apparent to the throne. He begins immediately running the harem on a. strictly American plan, beats up a sheik or two, and makes a whirlwind getaway with the girl o* his choice. Claire Adams is the girl. Other films include a comedy, “The elephant’s Nightmare,” and Fox News. Admission prices for to-night, the final showing, are 9d, Is 3d and 6d for children.
EMPIRE THEATRE. “FIRST LOVE” TO-NIGHT. “First Love” comes to soma of us like the measles—a fever, a chill, and then it’s all over. But to Katherine O’Donnell it came like a great tidal wave which swept her from young girlhood into womanhood, overwhelmed mother love, home ties, friendship’s warnings, and dashed her upon the shores of tragedy. “First Love” is the title of the Paramount picture attraction
