HOLIDAY VISITORS.
MANY INQUIRIES RECEIVED TOURIST LEAGUE’S WORK. A meeting of the New Plymouth Tourist and Expansion League was held last night for the purpose of a general survey of any outstanding business prior to commencing the New Year. Mr. Gordon! Fraser presided over a good attendance. w The chairman said that a quantity of correspondence had been received in con* nection with inquiries for ail of which had been dealt with. Other correspondence was received concerning inquiries regarding the Te Kuiti route, the main roads and the publicity campaign. These matters were in hand. A good road guide had been received from Messrs. Andrew and Bailey. Messrs. Cook and Son, Auckland, wrote to the effect that the league’s advertisement in the Cook Tour Book had beeg inserted at the cost of £5. A railway holiday time-table was to hand with trains connecting with the New Plymouth-Te Kuiti car service. Tbe sub-committee set up to make arrangements regarding signposts reported that the work was proceeding satisfactoP ily. All arrangements had been made for the erection of the signs at an early date, provided other members of the committee could assist. It was proposed that a large board about 15 feet by 5 feet be erected at the entrance to the town advertising the Tourist and Expansion League. It had been proposed to hold a wirelesd concert in the Pukekura Park on the second race night, but it was feared it would he impossible to procure the necessary equipment. Mr. Day has the matter in hand. Regarding the opening hours of thB league’s office the matter was held ovetf and the hours decided on will be advertised. Possibly a committee would be formed, the members of which could take turns in attending the office over the holiday period. >
