CIRCULAR ROAD RACE.
SUGGESTIONS FOR NEXT EVENT. FINANCIAL POSITION. The annual meeting of the Taradalci Circular Road Race Committee was held last night, Mr. C. Fairbrother presiding over a good attendance. The balance-sheet showed that the total receipt® for the year were £lB2 19s lOd and the expenditure £lBO 2s sd, leaving a credit balance of £2 17s sd. There were outstanding liabilities, however, totalling £ll 15s 4d, leaving a nett debit balance of £8 17s lid. In presenting the balance-sheet, Mr. E. L. Humphries said that the committee felt there was cause for satisfaction, although on the year they were a Httle behind financially The race had been a success. The adoption of the balance-sheet was* moved by Mr. Fairbrother, who said it was very gratifying to find that the raco had been successfully revived after a lapse of eight years. There had been a suggestion after the last race that more prize money should be allowed, and he had no doubt that the incoming commit- . tee would give that phase of the race consideration this year. The general committee will decide whether a race is to be held this year and the date, a suggestion being made that the race be held on Saturday, September 8, a week before the Timaru-Christchurch road race. » »■ A recommendation was made to the incoming commitlee that a standard time be’ set for rhe race, and that competitor finishing under the specified time be awarded a certificate or be refunded their nomination fees. It was also suggested that paper carton* be provided at drinking places so that there would be no necessity for competitors to stop. When finished with, the cartons could be thrown away. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the secretary (Mr. Humphries) for his work in connection with the race. The general committee will meet next Wednesday
