The Rarawa arrived at New Plymouth on Saturday morning and sailed at the usual hour in the evening with 170 passengers. To meet the needs of travellers consequent on die Main Trunk disaster, the Rarawa left Onehunga again yesterday, and is due at New Plymouth this morning. She will sail on the return journev on the arrival of the mall train tonight." The Rarawa will leave Onehunga at 3 p.m. to-morrowr arriving here on Wednesday morning. The return trip will be made that night, and the usual running will then be resumed. On Saturday night the Rarawa took north the mails for Auckland from the south. DEVON FROM LONDON. The Devon, from London, via New Zealand ports, arrived in the roadstead at 6.45 on Saturday morning. was boarded by tlie harbormaster (Captain W. Waller)) about 1 o’clock, and was alongside at. 2.30. Work on the discharge of her cargo, the bulk of which is slag, will be commenced this morning, after which the loading of her consignment of meat will be started. The Devon is 495 feet overall, and has a beam of 60 feet, her gross tonnage being 9661. Her officers are: Commander, Captain J. W. Gardiner: chief officer, R. Galthorpe; second officer, P. J. Connelly; third officer, L. C. Hill; fourth officer, G. W. kehoeScott; surgeon, Dr. C. McArthur; chief engineer, F. McClean; second engineer, H. Miller ; thitd engineer, C. Bartlett; fourth engineer, L. Taylor; fifth engineer, T. Ferguson; sixth engineer, G. Wake; seventh engineer, C. Johnson; chief refrigerating engineer, G. Bisson; second. G. Brown ; wireless operator, C. Williams; chief steward, A. Bennett. There are 22 cadets aboard, the ship’s total complement being 74. The Devon is expected to sail on Friday. » JOHN FOR WELLINGTON Work on the John was completed on Saturday morning, and she sailed at noon for Wellington with 3000 boxes of butter. WAIMEA DEPARTS. The Waimea completed the discharge of her cargo of coal on Saturday and sailed at 4.4 a p.m. for Westport. WAIHEMO TO-DAY. The Waihemo is expected to put in an appearance this morning, but she will remain in the stream until the Devon sails. PROGRESS WITH TIMBER. The Progress left Greymouth at 3.30 a.m. on Saturday afternoon with 68,000 feet of timber and 104 tons of coal for New Plymouth. She is expected to arrive this morning, and an effort will bp made to dispatch her to Greymouth this evening. PORT CHALMERS FROM LONDON. Latest advices concerning the Port Chalmers are that she left London on June 1 for Lyttelton, Dunedin and New Plymouth. She is expected to reach this port on July 27 to discharge 2655 tons c.f cargo.
