DEADLY LEVEL CROSSING.
FATALITY AT DANNEVIRKE. YOUNG GIRL KILLED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dannevirke, June 15. The Allardice Street level crossing which has been the scene of several fatalities and serious accidents, was responsible for another bad accident this morning, when the first train from the north, which was riming late, dashed into a motor-car containing Miss Joyce Ransom, need 19. daughter of Mr. E. A. Ransom. M.P.. of Pahiatua. and Miss Hazel'Grace Mexted, aged 18, daughter of a retired farmer. Just how the car got on the line is unknown, as it was in view of the approaching train. The car was earned along the line for 55 yards by the enwine and was badly damaged. ’ Miss Ransom was thrown out at the crossing, and Miss Mexted was carried along in the ear and walked back to Miss Ransom. Miss Ransom was ser,onslv iniured and subsequently died. Miss Mexted suffered an injury to. her leg and shock, but is not in danger. ANOTHER VICTIM IN PALMERSTON. Palmerston North, June 15. The same train which collided with the motor-car at Dannevirke injuring two young ladies, collided with a taxirai at thf level crossing in the Square shortly before noon. The ear was driven by William Braddock, who sustained concussion, cuts and abrasions. He was taken to the hospital.
