TARANAKI EGG CIRCLE.

THE ANNUAL MEETING. The Taranaki Co-operative Egg Society held its annual meeting at New Plymouth on Tuesday, Mr. J. Eva presiding. The executive reported that the operations of the society during the past year had been very satisfactory. The total number of eggs disposed of was 36,311 dozen, which realised £2592 10s. Owing to high prices of food several members had given up poultry keeping, and in consequence the turnover was not so large as last year. Members would be pleased to hear that the New Zealand Poultry Association had now made arrangements for the export of eggs, and this should help to keep the price up, especially during the flush of the season. In conclusion, the executive pointed out that as the society was a purely co-operative body, it should be the aim of every member to endeavor to draw in all non-members who, by holding back, were only retarding instead of improving the market. The retiring members of the committee, Messrs. A. P. Lister and J. Hamilton, were re-elected, and Mr. R. Wright was elected to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr. C. Bellringer. The hope was expressed by several speakers that poultry-keepers would show more interest in the circle during the coming year and that members would remain loyal to the movement, which was in the interest of poultrykeepers, and would ensure a wholesome article being placed before consumers.
