Sydney, May L One of the delegates representing the Australian fruit and produce interests, who visited London on behalf of the Federal Government to inquire into the questions of reciprocal treatment and trade generally has returned to Sydney. The impression he gained was that, while businessmen in London and the provinces were opposed to any mention of preference duties, it W{is freely recognised now that the Empire Conferenso must evolve some machinery that ’Would assure the Dominions of closer preferential trading conditions. The delegate added that the atmosphere was never better for the development of closer trade relations between Australia and the Homeland. As the result of inquiries he urged the need for careful attention to the grading and packing of goods and standardisation of the qualities of huttex and honey in order to compete with goods from other supplying countries.
