The exportation of bran and pollard from New Zealand, save with the consent of the Minister of Customs, has been prohibited. The explanation of the embargo is that the demand in New Zealand is sufficient to use up the available supplies, and that if exportation were permitted tlie abnormal demand from Australia during the drought might leave the local mariiet bare. It is stated that the mlllort and the wheat-growers favour the prohibition.
