WAITARA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) In St. John’s Hall last Friday a very successful mart was held in aid of funds for a new church at Motonui, which is to be erected by the Anglican community of that district. The following stalls were well-stocked and looked very attractive: Fruit, vegetables, poultry and home industries. The following were the stall-holders: Mesdames Batham. Stockman and Cosbrook and Misses N. Botham and Cosbrook. Over £l5 was taken. The hockey match at Tikorangi last .Saturday, between the Tikorangi and Lrenui ladies, resulted in the visiting team winning by seven goals to two. It is to be hoped that the Waitara Hockey Club will provide teams again. The Waitara public school girls have started a hockey team. The marriage of Mr. Radford and Miss Raven, of Mokau, took place in Waitara yesterday afternoon. The Rev. G. IT. Gavin officiated. Mr. J. C. Rolleston, M.P., and Mrs. Rolleston, who have been spending a few days in Waitara, loft on Saturday morning. Mr. F. A. Brown, who was appointed consulting engineer by the Borough Council, is at present making arrangements for an early start on the new work.
