coat FOR GERMANY.
BRITAIN DEMANDS CASH. NO FAVORED TREATMENT. R ANSWER TO FRANCE. By Telegraph.—-Press Assn.—Copyright. Received April 27, 8-5 p.m. London, April 27. The money market ridicules the Paris Temps’ charges that it is financing German resistance in the Ruhr, pointing out that British coal-owners are legitimately trading there. There is certainly no illwill W’ith France, and Germany does not receive any special favor. She largely secured the wherewithal to pay for coal 'by shutting ' down many imports; in other words, she found her ordinary working balances here sufficient to pay the cost of exceptionally large coal purchases. Thus the operations were done more or less on a cash basis by the utilisation of German balances abroad. Moreover, the cessation of reparations payment, following the Ruhr crisis itself, tend to increase Germany’s free balance. Cardiff exporters say they refused to jgive Germany credit, whereas credit was given to France and Italy.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
