jgAFETY pOR ,YOUR p STATE. NO. 17.—THE PUBLIC TRUSTEE AND THE BUSINESS MAN. New Zealand has proved that it has good types of business men, able, keen, progressive—men who have proved their ability in public affairs as well as in their own private enterprise. There was a time when some of these captains of industry and commerce doubted whether the Public Trust Office, • being a State institution, could achieve a high standard of efficiency in its work. They made inquiries—and prejudice was changed into a preference for the Public Trustee in the will. Those business men asked plain questions, and received plain replies—the facts of faithful, efficient service. They found that the Public Trust Office welcomed inquiry, and opened up the whole system of office practice so that the investigators could judge it on its merits. They saw that the great purpose of the Public Trust Office was to give the best practicable service in the conservation of private estates for the advantage of dependants. The sequel to these inquiries is a steady increase in the number of business men’s wills in which the Public Trustee is appointed to take charge of the estates, either solely or in conjunction’ with advisory trustees. For full information apply to the Public Trustee, Wellington; the District Public Trustee, New Plymouth or Hawera, or the District Manager, Stratford. Part-time Offices also at Waitara, Inglewood, Eltham and Patea.
