A statement regarding the finances of the Dominion for the current financial year was issued by the Premier to-day. The total revenue for the 11 months ended February 28 was £22,440,189. For the corresponding period of the previous year it was £20,226,801, an increase of £2,213,388. The expenditure for the 11 months ended February 28, was £22,588,243. The expenditure for the corresponding period of the previous year was £25,042,314, a decrease of £2,454,071.

“Taking the two together,” said the Premier, “an improvement of £4,667,459, the effect of savings and reductions in expenditure, is indicated by these figures. but in order to stabilise the position and keep the national expenditure within the national income, so as to enable us to reduce taxation, a continuance of strict supervision over our spending power is essential.”
