FAMILY POISONED.

INVESTIGATING THE CAUSE.

MILK BACTERIA BLAMED.

By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Feb. 2. In connection with the Brighton poisoning case the hospital authorities report that the condition of the father and two eldest children shows a slight improvement, but there is no change in the condition of the mother and youngest child.

Dr. Telford, health officer, states that as far as the Department’s investigation is concerned it has been established that the fruit eaten by the family was not a factor in the poisoning. Post mortem investigations bv Dr. Pearson, pathologist at Christchurch Hospital, revealed that the tragedy was probably due to bacteria in tjio* milk used in making the blancmange, -which was eaten at tea.
