SUPREME COURT.
SENTENCES AT AUCKLAND. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Feb. 5. In the Supreme Court Mr. Justice Stringer sentenced Tirkaererea Tamati for attempted rape at Opotiki to ten years’ imprisonment; Norman Selwyn Connelly, for breaking- and. entering, was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment; for forgery and false pretences at Palmerston, Alfred Joseph Vance who was of weak mentality, was ordered to remain on Rotoroa Island; Mary Ann Dizac, for receiving stolen propert.y while under the influence of a criminal, was admitted to two years’ probation. Ellen Elizabeth Elliott, who admitted forgery, false pretenegs and uttering by means of which she had drawn £230 from her husband's bank account, was admitted Io throe years’ probation. Mr. Justice Stringer remarked that the Government would have to refund the cash paid on the forged signature. Neville John Gall, for theft of money from his employers, tho Auckland -Education Beard, was sentenced to two years, probation. William Theodore Ihomson admitted making a false declaration, having married before the Registrar under the name of Scott. Accused is already serving two years for the offences and was discharged on the pre’ sent indictment.
