LOST ON EGMONT

K 0 FURTHER TRACE. SEARCH BEING CONTINUED. The search for the Rev. William Murray, who has been lost on Mount Egmont since Tuesday last, was continued over the week-end, but without success. Three parties were out on Saturday, one under Mr. Murphy searching down the Stony River, where footprints had been discovered the previous day. A junction with the two other parties, with whom they were co-operating to cover all the ground, was effected, but no further trace of the missing man was found. Yesterday a party under Mr. S. Turner, the well-known mountaineer, worked out towards the falls from the Kahui hut. They returned through Okato in the evening, but left no word as to whether they had made any fresh discoveries. Mr. Murray, junior, arrived from Manakau on Saturday and proceeded direct to the North Egmont house. He was to join a party under Mr. Upson, which was to leave at 4 o’clock this morning to continue the search from the junction of the Stony River and a tributary running down by Holly Flat lodge. The remainder of the party will compose Messrs. Haldane, Gibson, Cluny, Cameron and Dr. Brewster.

A Stratford party, consisting of the Rev. J. W. McKenzie and Messrs. P. Thomson and W. Pettigrew, searched the mountainside throughout Friday for the missing man. Commencing at 8 a.m. the search continued without success till 5.30 p.m.. the party undergoing strenuous climbing. The summit was reached and the headwaters of the Waiwakaiho and the North Egmont track were traversed.
