RACING GANG FEUD. By Telegraph.—Press Assn—Copyright. Received Jan. 19, 8.5 p.m. London, Jan. 18. The two brothers Cortesi, who were arrested with others during a fracas in the Italian Club in Clerkenwell, in which a man was shot, were sentenced to three years’ imprisonment, while the others were acquitted. The police stated there had been a lengthy feud between two racecourse gangs, a Jewish gang known as the Sabini gang and Cortesis as the Italian gang. PRESIDENT HARDING ILL. Received Jan. 19, 9.10 p.m. Washington, Jan. 19. President Harding has been ill for several days with a slight attack of grippe. His physician has ordered him to bed, and all his engagements have been cancelled for the remainder of the week. COLLAPSE OF THE MARK. Received Jan. 19, 9.10 p.m. Washington, Jan. 18. The mark has reached the low record of 25,256 for the dollar, the sterling value of which is 4.63|. BRITISH COAL BOOM Received Jan. 19, 8.5 p.m. London, Jan. 18. Glasgow reports that all available coal for export for January is booked for immediate shipment to Germany. This boom has increased the prices of certain classes 2/6 a ton. ADMINISTRATION SAVINGS. Received Jan. 19, 5.5 p.m. Delhi, Jan. 18. A Bengal retrenchment committee recommended drastic cuts to save nearly 20 million rupees, including the abolition of the posts of one minister, two executive councillors, and all divisional commissioners. Savings are recommended in all departments, but principally in the police and education departments, while the department of fisheries is abolished. CANADIAN MINISTER’S DEATH. Received Jan. 19, 5.5 p.m. New York, Jan. 18. Advices from Naples, Florida, state that Mr. William Kennedy, Canadian Minister of Railways, died from heart failure. He was ‘convalescing there after six months’ illngss.
