CARTRIDGES EXPLODE.

THREE WOMEN KILLED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Melbourne, Jan. 17. An explosion at a factory of the Australian Explosive Company at Door Park, near Melbourne, occurred in a hut where four young women were filling cartridges, killing Florence Smith, aged 27, Maggie Nelison, 21, and May Jackson, 20, and seriously injuring Olive Baxter. Nelson and Jackson were killed instantly, being shockingly mutilated. Smith succumbed ten minutes after the accident.

The victims were just about to stop work for the day when the explosion occurred. The cause is unknown.
