THOUSAND MINES IDLE. By Telegraph.—Press Assn, —Copyright. Sydney. Jan. 17. The secretary of the Miners’ Federation states that 103 G miners are idle on the south coast in consequence of the closing down of two large collieries owing to a dispute between the owners and the Railway Commisisoners. The federation decided to ask tne Government either to compel the owners to work the mines or to take them over and work them in the interest of the general community. SIR G* FULLER SAILS. Sydney, Jan. 16. Sir George and Lady Fuller have sailed on a visit to England. They expect to return within six -months. One of the chief objects of the Premier’s mission is to seek the British Government’s co-operation in immigration and development of trade. ABSCONDING BANKER ARRESTED. Sydney, Jan. 17. George Kenneth Hitching, who became manager of Hornsby 'branch of the Government Savings Bank the murder of the late manager, Mr. Kcmmis, has been remanded on a charge 01 stealing £5409 of the banks money. Hitching was arrested at Albury.
