PERSONAL.

Mr W. T. Jennings, who has been unwell of late, leaves New Plymouth by this morning’s mail train for Wellington, when he goes into a private hospital for treatment. The Rev. John Dawson, secretary of the New Zealand Alliance, is at present in New Plymouth.

Mr H. S. Wagstaff, who for the past four years has been in charge of the stock department of the Taranaki Farmers’ Meat Co., leaves to-day, with Mrs Wagstaff, for Auckland, where he intends to reside. Mr J. R. Crliiekshank will leave New Plymouth on, Thursday, for Wellington to connect with the Port Darwin for London, via Monte Video. He hopes to arrive 'back in Now Zealand about the middle of August. Mr W. H. Skinner, who has been attending the Science Congress in Wellington as the delegate of the New Plymouth Society, returned to New Plymouth last night by the mail train. Mr. J. Mac Lean Dun, who is still reading proofs on the Star (Christchurch), celebrated his eighty-eighth birthday. He started his journalistic career as an apprentice “at the case’ - on the Montrose Review in 1848.

Dr. D. S. Wylie, C.M.G., F.R.C.S., formerly director the division of hospitals in New Zealand, returned by the Makura from Vancouver. During a stay of throe months in the United States, Dr. Wylie visited the Mayo Clinic, in Rochester, Dr. Crile’s Clinic, in Cleveland, and various other clinics and hospitals in New York, Boston and elsewhere. Dr. Wylie is entering into private practice at Palmerston North.
