INGLEWOOD.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) At a meeting of the Inglewood County Council it was decided that the rates of interest on the loans, which the ratepayers will be asked to sanction at the poll to be taken on March 7, shall be: For th© main roads loan of £21,500 (25 years), per cent., with a sinking fund of H per cent., and for the bridge loan of £3500 (36 years), interest and sinking fund £5 12s 2d per cent. Visitors to Inglewood will do well to take notice that instructions have been given to prosecute any and everyone who crosses the rai way line in the middle of the town by or near the railway station, except where the streets cross it. This comes after the public here have been habituated to the use of a turnstile in the fence west of the goods shed, and generally male ng the railway yard a ready means of crossing from one side to the other of the central business part of the town. i.ii The Inglewood Athletic Club has decided to hold this year’s meeting on Thursday, February 22, for which occasion, with the determination to get a really good day’s sports, the prize money has been increased to £75 from £55. For the Inglewood Handicap, an increase from £5 to £7 has been fixed. It has also been decided to start the sports at 11 a.m., to allow p.enty of time for the full programme. present to enV’ven the proceedings, and it s hoped that the business people of Inglewood will close their premises extra earlv n honor of the occasion. As all arrangements are in the hands of enthusiastic jommittee a thoroughly outing s promised.
