Zouave, Zenith, Muraahi. Explorer, Battle Song, Comical, Diaunond Ring, Loved One, Master Curran and Alfort. H. Cutts received three more of hIS team from south this morning, when R. J. Mason K. McDonald, P. McGrath and J. Shaw also arrived.

TURF TOPICS.

(By "Moturoa.”) Wellington Cup on Saturday. Foxton jubilee meeting on Saturday and Monday. Tukia is being treated to a. short spell. Some Boy 11. has been sold to Glentruin’s owner, Mr. A. Chisholm. The Manawatu Trotting Club’s annual meeting takes place at Awapuni to-day. H. E. Ryder had a busy time at the West Coast meetings. His mounts numbered 47. A Manawatu scribe states that Dug. Webster and Fred Edwards, who took teams of horses to the West Coast, scored nine firsts, nine seconds, and three thirds. They must have got some money off the Coasters I Taranaki horses have been freely accepted for at Foxton, and should pay their way there; that Is if they can gallop on sandy soil, and negotiate sharp turns. Some horses are tied up badly on the Foxton track. ■Owners were in a particularly generous mood on Monday evening when accepting for the first day of the Fcxton meeting, and the correct card will he the bulkiest issued by the little seaside club for many years. Projector has been paid up for in no less than three races on the first day, so we must presume that his owner has either money to burn, or likes to keep the public guessing until the last unoment. Other horses with dual , engagements on Saturday are Helen Rufus, Empyrean, Aliika, Atapo, Some Red. Princess Fran, Bonny Louisa, Kareao, Kuia, Veloclform, Jackaroo, and Cheer Up. Eight remain in the Hack Hurdles, but a mile and three-quarters may trouble most, of them. Springtide and Moulu have recent form in their favour.

Thirteen hold their places In the Himatangi Hack Handicap, and, if started, Atapo, Fleeting. Projector and Some Red should all run well. An acceptance of fourteen In the Cup 1s more than satisfactory. Admiral Codrington holds his place at the head of the list, but he failed last year with 31bs. less, and Is one of those horses that evidently does not gallop freely on sandy soil. Prlnteunps reads well with 5.12, as do Dissertation 7.13, and Ilallowroz 7.9.

The maidens are a poor crowd, and the ones most likely to run out seven furlongs appear to be Rimutaka, Bonny Louisa and Silver San. The last-named is a four-year-old gelding by San Fran—Sylvia Park mare, trained by Tommy Colman at Marton, and it ran a good second to Ihapotoa in the Electric Handicap (seven furlongs) on the second day of the Marton summer meeting. Scratchings through prior or later engagements may reduce the field for the Hack Welter, but Veloclfonm and Sweet Song will carry hig money if saddled up for the race. As usual at Foxton, the open sprint has only attracted a moderate field. Probate appears to have plenty of weight, and punters are likely to prefer the chances of Island 7.8 and Birkie 8.8. The Marotiri Hack Handicap will attract some lively sprinters, including Loyal Maid and (possibly) Projector. It is impossible to estimate the likely strength of the field.for the Herrington Welter, but. Kareao, Kuia and Veloclform would all have chances if reserved.

With the following alterations last year's programme was adopted: The pony race was deleted, the Pukearuhe Handicap (one mile) being substituted: the Farewell Handicap was altered to a Consolation Handicap for all beaten horses, the distance being six furlongs; whilst the Barnltt Handicap Is now six, and the Farmers’ Plate seven furlongs. The boundary for the local races was fixed at from the Nlkorima road to Mt. Messenger. The nomination fee for the Maiden Plate was increased to £l, the Wal-toi-toi Cup £1 10s: the Barnltt Handicap £1 ss, and the Consolation £l. The minimum weight In the Bracelet was altered to lOst. The chairman announced that Mr. J. S. O’Neill had donated a whip, to be given to the rider of the winner of the Farmers’ Plato, and Mr. Geo. Day one for the Ladies’ Bracelet. Both these gentlemen received a vote of thanks for their liberality. The advisability of closing the nominations for several of the principal races several days before the meeting was discussed, but no action was taken, the general opinion being that post entries would result in larger entries . being received. In order to make the picnic more attractive, and to relieve the monotony between the events, it was thought that if a band could be procured it would greatly add to the enjoyment of the day, and Messrs. J. S. O'Neill and C. Rumbal were empowered to go • into. the matter, and if possible make the necessary arrangements.

It was left in the hands of the secretary to call for tenders for the right of conducting a luncheon booth, the menu and tariff to accompany the tender. It was mentioned that the Urenul Sports Club had subscribed £5 towards the Hall Improvement Fund, and it was resolved that the sum of £2 2s be donated by the Picnic Club towards the same object. Mr. .1. Zimmerman was added to the list nf vice-presidents, the secretary being instructed to convex to that gentleman the thanks of the dub for his courtesy In leaving open the gates on his farm for the convenience of the public on tlie day of the picnic. A vote of thanks to the chair terminated the procccd-
