BOXING.
TARANAKI ASSOCIATION. TOURNAMENT NEXT MONTH. A imeeting of the committee of the Taranaki Boxing Association was held last night. Present: Messrs. E. Jackson (in the chair?, M. G. Stagpoole, W. Yardley, R. Barlow, N. B. Howell, G. E. Jago, and C. H. Wynyard (secretary). The question of holding a tournament was discussed, and it was resolved to endeavor to match Cadman and Gleeson in the Coronation Hall on the evening of Wednesday, February 14. the date of the visit of the American athlete?. Mr. T. Tracey was appointed referee. It was decided to stage four amateur bouts of six two-minute rounds as preliminaries, and the following were suggested: J. S. Fletcher (Purangi) v. W. Coates (Omata) ; A. Duggan (Hawera) v. H. McAsey (Lepperton) ; Waite (Urenui) v. V. Laurent (Brixton) ; Mills (Riverlea) v. Pepperell (Auroa).
It was resolved to fix the prices at the moderate figure of 10s for ringside and reserved chairs, and 5s for the rest of the house, plus tax. The secretary of the Band Contest Committee wrote asking for the use of the association's staging in connection with the forthcoming band contest.—-Granted subject to conditions.
