BIG COPPER DEAL. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Jan. 16, 9.45 p.m. New York, Jan. 15. It is announced that the Anaconda Copper Mining Company paid seventy million dollars for the controlling interest in the Chili Copper Company, which controls the largest known copper ore field in the world. A loan of fifty million dollars will be floated to finance the deal and provide the necessary working capital. LABOR AND THE LEAGUE. Received Jan. 16, 9.45 p.m. Washington, Jan. 10. Mr. Gompers has announced that he will ugre the American Federation of Labor to join the employees’ division of the international labor office created by the League of Nations at Geneva. The American Chamber of Commerce has announced it will join the employers’ division. SKIRMISHES IN THE BALKANS. Received Jan. 16, 8.50 p.m. Paris, Jan. 15. The Roumanian Minister confirms the reported Hungarian and Roumanian skirmishes on the frontier.
