Mr. Bonar Law met the managers of the principal railways at Downing Street and discussed unemployment relief schemes, principally the extension of the electrification of existing schemes. It is officially stated the railways expressed a desire to assist in every way possible and promied to furnish the Government with information regarding the work undertaken and additional schemes which might be undertaken at ■■n early date. It is moffieiallj’ stated the railways’ plans contemplate the expenditure of £.50,000,000 to _£W,OW,<WO.
