LORD JELLIOOE GRAND MASTER. THE ANNUAL GATHERING. By Telccraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The annual communication of the Masonic Grand Lodge of New Zealand, opened to-day. Lord Jellicoe was unanimously elected Grand Master and of the other grand officers elected the principal were: Pro-, w Grand Master, Mr. H. L. Mitehel; Grand Chaplains, Bishop Sadlier, Rev. A. H. Norris; Grand Treasurer, Mr. W. E. Scott; Grand Registrar, Mr. T. H. Williams; President of the Board of General Purposes. Mr. A. H. Hobbs: President of the Board of Benevolence, Mr. R. W. S. Eastwood; Senior Grand Deacons, 'Messrs. V. Gill and A. Deable; Junior Grand Deacons, Messrs. P. Caskill and F. W. Grainger; Directors of Ceremonies, Messrs. C. Flavill and Jas. Rod. The report of the Board of Benevolence showed grants for the last, eighteen months totalling £1358 and the results of circular appeals amounted to £1842. The report on the widows and orphans’ fund and aged Melons' fund showed that annuities were being paid in 96 cases to the amount of £3932 per annum. Payments out of the special war benevolent fund amounted to £4721. A statement of the posi tion of the funds showed a total of £77,768, of which £54.059 belongs to the widows, orphans and aged Manons’ fund, £9253 to the special war fund, and £3735 to the benevolent fund. It was resolved to hold next year’s pommunication at Wellington. The question of a new method of selecting Grand Lodge officers was referred to the Board of General Purposes. A proposal to locate the Grand Secretary ’a office permanently in one centre was shelved.

The installation of Lord Jellicoe and the Pro-Grand Master and the investiture of the other officers took place this evening before a record attendance of members of the craft. The Grand Master announced the appointment of Mr. E. W. G. H. Watts (Dunedin) as deputy-Grand Master, Mr. .11. G. W. Rogers (Taranaki) and Mr. G. A. Riffin (Auckland) as senior and junior grand wardens, and the following as provincial grand masters: Messrs. O. Nicholson (Auckland), Geo. Russell (Wellington), O. 11. Moller (Otago), W. A. Stout (Southland), J. W. Ritchie (Hawke’s Bay), F. C. Wade (West Coast), R. P. Furness (Nelson and Marlborough), and W. N. Ewing (Taranaki).
