CANVASSER FINED. By Telegraph.--Press Association. Feilding, November 24. Alexander Hayward, a Prohibition Party canvasser, was yesterday fined £5 for a breach of the Legislative Act covering enrolments. He persuaded an elector to sign his wife’s name to an enrolment form and then witnessed i the signature. The elector was fined £l. SUCCESSFUL NELSON -SHOW. George Alexander Brown, apprehended with two others in a. raid yesterday, was charged with using the building occupied by him as a common gaming house. The police stated that in nine days after the Christchurch races his takings were £7OO. For the Ashurst meeting yesterday he took £3l 5s by 11 a.m. He was fined £4O. Two months ago he pleaded guilty and was lined £75.
John Peter Donnelly and J. Patrick, hairdressers, the other! two arrested, were fined £lO yesterday.
