NEWTON KING, LTD., REPORT. At Urenui on June 26 a good yarding of both sheep and cattle came forward and we report a full clearance at late rates. 2-tooth ewes in lamb 16s Cd. 4 and 6-tooth et<es in lamb 16s Bd, good 4,6, and 8-tooth ewes in lamb 20s 7d, full-mouthed ewes Us, fail-ing-mouthed ewes 7s lOd. Lambs 10s 5d to Us Gd, woolly iambs 13s lid to 15s 6d, forward wethers 20s, small 2-tooth wethers 16s 3d, light fat cows £2 15s, forward bullocks £3 Is, 2-year-old steers .30s, yearling heifers 21s, empty heifers £3 15s, Jersey in-calf heifers £9, springing cows £7 to £l2. At Stratford on the 27th ult. cattle were in biggest supply and all classes realised full market rates. Lambs 10s 9d, store cows 15s, forward cows £2 12s, yearling heifers 27s to 40s, quality heifers £3 17s 6d, empty heifers £3 2s 6d, dairy cows £8 to £9. At Inglewood on June 28 a moderate yarding met with a fair demand, prices remaining on a level with late rates. Sound mouth breeding ewes 15s, ful) and failing mouthed ewes Ils Id, yearling Jersey bulls 255, yearling heifers 21s to 38s, Jersey heifer £4 ss, store cows 18s to 32s 6d, sound cows £2 9s to £3 11s, dairy cows £5 10s to £l2 10s.

At Rahotu a sunali yarding was practically completely cleared. Fat lambs 17s. yearling steers 16s, yearling heifers 21s to 27s 6d, empty heifers £3 as to £3 16s, in-calf heifers 10s to 30s, fat cows £4, store cows 10s to 30s, springing cows £9 to £l3 10s. We have conducted the following clearing sales, and report: On June 26, bn account of Mr. A t G. Bryant, Pihania, horses and Implements sold well, the cows realising the satisfactory average of £9. At Toko on the 28th ult., on account of Mr. G. W. Downs, a satisfactory clearance was effected, the cows making up to £l2, in-calf heifers £8 ss. whilst the implements and sundries met with bright competition. At Inglewood yards on the same day Mr. W(. F. Olsen’s pedigree Ayrshire herd was well cleared, the cows making up to guineas. At Warea also on the same day, on ac- t count of Mr. T. Raven, buyers were in attendance from all parts of Taranaki. His herd of 84 cows (ail in) consisting mostly of grade Jerseys realising the high average of £l6 15s, 50 of the best cows averaged £l9 Us. These figures to the best of our knowledge represent a record for clearing sale averages in Taranaki so far this season. The top price cow was £2G 10s. On Mr. A. L. Hooper’s homestead, Mahoe, in spite of ’ the inclement weather, buyers were in attendance from all parts of New Zealand, and a good sale resulted. The cattle were looking well and this together with ♦heir excellent breeding and butterfat producing qualities aroused keen interest amongst buyers and quite a number of high prices were realised. A summary of quotations is as follows: Cows 32, 45, 60, 67 guineas, outstanding quality cows 108, 134, 150 guineas, in-calf heifers 26 to 57 guineas, yearling heifers 17, 24. 28 guineas. Bull calves 16, 22. and 31 guineas, yearling calves 20 guineas, 4-year-old do S 6 guineas. On account of Stratford Pedigree Jersey Breeders on June 30, a good entry came forward, and taken on the whole the sale was a highly satisfactory one. A fair number of cattle were to leave the district. Yearling heifers 18’& to 25 guineas, heifer calf 15 guineas, in-calf heifers 20. 24, 34’ guineas, quality in=calf heifers 47, 61. (>8 guineas, best cows 36 and 46 guineas, ordinary cows 15, 22% and 28 guineas. At the Waiwakailio showgrounds on the 27th ult.. we conducted the annual sale of females on behalf of members of the New Plymouth Pedigree Jersey Cattle Club. There was a large gathering of buyers from all parts of New Zealand and a satisfactory sale resulted, two-thirds of the entry changing hands. 2-year heifers made up the bulk of the entry and most of these sold. Yearling heifers 14. 20 to 32 guineas, in-calf heifers 20, 26. 31, 52 guineas, quality heavily backed butterfat heifers 60. 75, 80 up to 100 guineas.
