By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. Potatoes continue to constitute the live end of the produce market. A few farmers are offering, but northern merchants are now making offers with some freedom. A new experience in the trade this season is reported. On some of the light land in South Canterbury severe frosts have affected the undug tubers. In any case, the weather has not been conducive to digging during this past fortnight., and, as a result, fewer potatoes are reaching port. The Wingatui, which left to-night for Auckland, took 2200 sacks from Lyttelton, and approximately 1500 from. Timaru, including seed. The Opihi sails about the end of the week, but present indications are that she will take only a small

cargo. Some prompt delivery business has been done at £6 f.o.b. and 0.t., and some fair parcels have been disposed of for north for August-September delivery at this figure. Russets are worth £4 5b (id to £4 7s 6d, to farmers up to £4 10s, and Dakotas up to £4 12s 6d, but holders of the latter are not offering. There is no change from the week-end report on other classes of produce. Wheat is subject to the monthly increment of %d per bushel as from last Saturday.
