PEDIGREE JERSEY CATTLE.
NEXT FRIDAY’S SALE. In the auction columns to-day -will be found details of an important unreserved sale of high-class pedigree Jersey cattle bn account ofv Mr. Harry Hodge, Alton, sale taking place on Friday next, 7th Inst., at tha Loan and Mercantile Company's Hawera saleyards, at 1 o'clock. Mr. Hotfce, depending largely on sharemillring, finds himself with too many highquality animals to properly attend to, consequently he is disposing of his whole herd of pedigrees, comprising 36 head. Special attention is directed to the quality of the bulls that have sired this herd, as every good breeder nowadays recognises the great importance of the sire to a first-class herd, and we need to say no more on this head than to give -the following particulars of the bulls which have sired the cows and heifers -to be offered on Friday next. .Beachland’s Admiral, a typical bull of good length and depth, good masculine head, very quiet, and a skin that handles well. His breeding is as follows: Beachland's Admiral (4553)—Sire: Brighton Twylish (4-19«) ifinp. —Lord Twylish (imp.)—Brighton Lassie, a Jersey Island cow. Dam: Gem of Beachlands (3372)—Golden Swan (imp.)—Flandrine’s Gift (butter-fat record of 544.751 b.), by Flandrine (imp.). Miro Meadow’s Sapphire (6321). Sire: Miro Meadow's Maori Boy (a champion show ring bull), who was by Admiral of Puketapu (with 10 C.O.R. daughters)—Commander— Knight Commander—K.C.B. (imp.). The dam of Miro .Meadow’s Maori Boy was Miro Meadow’s Buttercup, by K.C.B. (imp.). She made a record of 488.851 b. butter-fat when requiring only 279. Gib. to qualify, and her mother made 4’63.381b. The dam of Miro Meadow’s Sapphire was Miro Meadow's Ruby, who was by Admiral of Puketapu out of Miro Meadow’s Gem. The latter was by K.C.B. (imp.)—who, by the way, has 22 C.O.R. daughters—out of Miro, who made 548.691 b. butter-fat when requiring only 276.61 b. to qualify. Miro's (mother, Waif's Glory, made 522.191 b. fat in 365 days. Ratanui Eminent (7651). - Born September 2, 1919. Bred by H. Hodge. Sire : Eminent's Fontaine (438), imp. Dam: Walpiko Mozelle (2737), who was by Bilberry’s Goddington (950). Goddington (imp.)—Gould’s Bilberry (1888). Dam of Waipiko Mozelle was Eminent’s Mozelle (1629) —Eminent’s Fontaine— Spree (354) —Duke of York (138)—Frolic (73).
