Orders for papers may also be left with them. MAGISTRATE’S COURT. Dec. 16. At the Stratford Magistrate’s Court to-day, before Messrs. S. B, Hunter and J. MeCluggage, J.P.’s. Henry lan Douglas Mackay was charged, on four counts, of carnally knowing a girl under the age of 16 years. Accused was committed for trial at the next sitting of the Supreme Court at New Plymouth, bail being allowed on one security of self for £2OO, and one of £2OO, or two of £lOO each. PRIZE-GIVING AT JST. MARY’S. Y’esterday afternoon a very successful sale of work was held at the St. Mary’s School for the purpose of assisting the Tongan Mission, and also to provide funds for improvement of the school grounds. During the afternoon the prizes won during the year were presented by Mrs. Young, appropriate speeches being given by Mf. H. E. Abraham and Mr. H. H. Young. There was a large number of parents and friends present. The lady principal and Board of Governors desire to thank Mesdames Young,*' Budge, Webster, Christie, T. C. Fookes, Lewers, H. Wilson, Kemp, Keeling, Riera and Miss Dudding for donations of special prizes, also Mr. Hine for judging the physical drill. Mesdames Budge and L. Curtis for judging the needle-work, and Mrs. T. C. After trying out the traffic dome at the intersection of Regan Street and Broadway for a few weeks, the borough Council decided to place another dome at the intersection of Fenton Street and Broadway, and this was placed in position yesterday afternoon. The borough inspector was on duty directing traffic round the new dome this morning. Although this intersection is not so busy a thoroughfare as the corner of Regan Street and Broadway, there is a good amount of traffic in the morning when, the milk carts ar? going to and from the dairy factory. The Stratford model dairy farm was visited yesterday by a number of pupils of the Stratford primary school, who did good work in preparing ground for sowing seeds for the swede-growing competition. Work will be resumed on the first fine day at 9.30 a.m.

Mr. R. T. Bickerton, M.P.0.C., eyesight specialist, of Wellington, a son of Professor Bickerton, announces that he will be in Stratford next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and sufferers from headaches, blurring of print, or difficulty in threading a needle, may consult him in premises recently occupied by Messrs. Foley and Jago, land agents, Broadway.
