BOXING.

PROPOSED INGLEWOOD TOURNAMENT. AN ENTHUSIASTIC MEETING. Members of the committee of the Taranaki Boxing Association visited Inglewood last night and met. the Inglewood committee in connection with the tournament which it is proposed should be held at Inglewood during December. The meeting, which was held «n the Coffee Palace, was very enthusiastic, there being an attendance of nearly fifty. Mr. E. Jackson (deputy-chairman of the Taranaki Boxing Association) presided, and expressed pleasure at seeing such . a largo attendance. The enthusiasm it betokened augured well for the success of the forthcoming tournament, and he thought’ that it would not. he long, before Inglewood had a live association of its own. It was reported that so far £124 had been guaranteed towards the expenses of the tournament, and the ch airman of the Inglewood committee (Mr. A. T. Kenrlck) reported th.it there would be no difficulty in considerably increasing the amount. On the motion of Messrs. A. T. Kenrlck and Lealnnd, it was resolved to hold the tournament on the date suggested, viz., December 15, the Inglewood committee agreeing to indemnify the Taranaki Association against loss. For the professional contest, it was resolved to match Jock Gfaham and A. Greaves, of : Auckland, welter-weights, for a purse of 100 sovs., including expenses. It was agreed to stage five amateur bouts, and a number matches were arra-ig-ed, subject to the approval of the parties concerned. It was decided to ask Mr. A. Maxwell to referee at ths tournament. : It was resolved to curtail the issue of complimentary tickets, officials and members of : the Taranaki committee also to pay. The price of admission was fixed at £1 Is (ring- ' side), Jos and ss. Mr. Lett’s offer to paint a large sign free of charge was accepted with thanks. Votes of thanks were accorded Mr. Eagar , for the use of the room, the New Plymouth visitors, and the chairman. The. next meeting will be kelg- at Inglewood
