LAWN TENNIS.

NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. The opening of the New Plymouth Tennis Club’s courts for the season will take place this afternoon, and the committee are hoping for a large gathering of members. Progressive tennis will be played, for which seven courts will be available, an extra one having been marked out on the green recently vacated by the croquet section of the club, and this will help in accommodating the thirty new members who have joined the club this season. Members are asked to assemble bj’ 1.45, as it is hoped to commence play by two o’clock. Small trophies will be presented to the winners of the competitions.
