TARANAKI LAND BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. The usual monthly meeting of the Taranaki Land Board was Feld oil Wednesday, Thursday, ar-d Friday, October 26, 27, and 28, 1921. Present: Messrs. H. J. Lowe (chairman), S. Blake, T. C. Ryan, N. R. Cleland, and J. W. H. Martin. The application by Joseph O’Neill for section 7, Bik. 13, Cape S.D. was approved. The following applications to transfer were approved:—Section 3, Blk. 3, Waro, H. H. Meyer to B. L. McLarin; section 1160, town of New Plymouth, C. Carter to A. C. Wallath ; sectldn 156, town of New Plymouth, B. I. Lawrence to J. McLaren; sub. 18, Ngatitara Block, Blk. 7, Opunake, J. Kirkwood to W. H Baylis; section 80, Blk. 10, Kaupokonui, A. and F. W. Hockey to S. M. and A. S. Radford (subject to disposal of freehold) ; section 2, Blk. 1, Ramgi, George Parker (through Official Assignee) to L. E. Birch. The transfer of section 381, town of Stratford, from H. and F. H. Brown to T. I-ukaschefski, was adjourned. W. F. Roebuck was granted permission to effect improvements on sections 392 and 418, town of New Plymouth.

The application by P. F. Wilson for a homestead site for 1:1s sections 2 and 15, Blk. 16, Ponatu, was recommended for the Minister’s approval. Resolved that the Stratford County Council be asked to give reasons why the money from accrued thirds cannot be utilised.

The application by the Waitotara County Council to have thirds from sections 1 and ?, Blk. 1. Omara, expended by the Public Works Department, was approved. Proposals for the expenditure of thirds by the Egmont County Council were approved, subject to the ranger, being satisfied after consultation with the County engineer.

Sixty one applications under the Discharged Soldiers’ Settlement Acts were dealt with as follows:—14 applications for building grants were recommended, and 2 refused; one house •application and two for farms were reconn-n-.ended; 20 applications for stock were recommended, 7 deferred and 3 refused; 3 appl’cations for additional building grants were refused; 3 applications to transfer were approved, 1 adjourned, and 1 refused; 1 scheme of sub-division was approved; 2 applications for farms and 1 for an additional town sectioi were refused.
