VISIT TO TARANAKI. COASTAL TRIP TO-DAY. AT NEW PLYMOUTH TO-NIGHT. The Governor-General (Viscount Jellicoe of Scapa) and Lady Jellicoe arrive in Taranaki to-day, and visit Patea, Nlanaia, Auroa and Opunake, arriving at New Plymouth this evening. To-mor-row will be spent in New Plymouth, while a trip to Mount Egmont on Saturday will be followed by visits to Inglewood and Waitara. The party returns to New Plymouth late on Saturday afternoon, leaving for Wellington on Monday morning.

Leaving Wanganui this morning, Their Excellencies’ first stop will be at Patea, where they are due at 10.12 a.m. The visit will be confined to a reception and morning tea at the Town Hall and functions in connection with the public school. This afternoon His Excellency is to unveil a monument to fallen soldiers at Manaia, the function to start at 1 p.m., and he is to officiate at a similar gathering at Auroa at 2.40. At Opunake, which Their Excellencies should reach about 3.30, a public reception and the presentation of an address will take place at the Post Office. The Vice-Regal party will then be entertained to afternoon tea. His Excellency is to perform the ceremony of laying the foundation stone of the soldiers’ monument, and if time permits Their Excellencies will be shown the harbor site, the electric light works, and the old military cemetery. They leave for New Plymouth at 4 o’clock.

The Vice-Regal party are expected in New Plymouth shortly after six o’clock to-night, and on arrival will be met by the Mayor and councillors. The only arrangements for the evening are a visit to the Taranaki Club by His Excellency, while Lady Jellicoe inspects the Plunket Society’s rooms in Brougham Street. TO-MORROW’S FUNCTIONS. To-morrow’s programme commences at 9.30 with a visit to Marsland Hill, and at 9.50 Their Excellencies will be at the Public Hospital. They will arrive at the High School at 11 a.m., when the official reception is to take place. After the inspection of the guard of honor the civic address will be read, and the presentation of leading citizens will follow. Between the presentation of the address and Lord Jellicoe’s reply a bouquet will be presented by a young lady to Lady Jellicoe. The public are requested to remain in their places until the Vice-Regal party has left the ground. Motorists should note that cars may be parked only in Avenue Road, and all ca,rs returning to town must proceed via Cameron Street. The return from the High School grounds will be made via Pukekura Park. Business people are asked to close their premises for a sufficient time in the morning to enable everyone to take part in the reception. In the afternoon Their Excellencies attend at the Clarke Memorial Hostel, where Lady Jellicoe officiates at the opening ceremony, commencing at 2 o’clock. As the formal address will be delivered on the balcony the public can view the proceedings from the street, which will be closed to vehicular traffic. The hostel will be open for inspection after the departure of the Vice-Regal party. At 2.45 the ViceRegal party leave on a drive to the golf links. The evening will be occupied by the citizens’ ball. SATURDAY’S TOUR.

A trip to the mountain will start at 9.30 on Saturday morning. After lunching at the hostel the party will leave at 1.25 p.m. for Inglewood. Au official reception is to be held at Inglewood on the Domain, commencing at 2 p.m. His Excellency has consented to address the school children, of whom it is expected there will be a large gathering, and afterwards the ViceRegal party will be the guests at an afternoon tea in the Inglewood Hotel. They then proceed to Waitara, where the reception is timed to start at 3.30 p.m., and the return to New Plymouth will be made at 4.15 p.m. In the evening His Excellency attends a Savage Club function, and Lady Jellicoe will be entertained privately. Their Excellencies attend St. Mary’s Church on Sunday morning. At 2 p.m. a trip to Bell Block will be made, and there His Excellency will unveil a memorial to fallen soldiers. At 3.15 p.m. Their Excellencies leave JJell Block, via Hillsborough, for the Meeting of the Waters, en route to New Plymouth. They return to Wellington at 7.20 on Monday morning.
