RACING REPORT.
DISCUSSED BY MEMBERS. REPUTATION TO PREMIER.
By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night.
Members of Parliament met again today to consider the problems of the Racing Commission's report. Sir Geo. Hunter, in an official statement, said: “The meeting to consider the report of the commission was attended by over fifty members of Parliament. A resolution was carried by a good majority asking the Prime Minister to give the House an opportunity of early consideration of the Order-in-Council and the report of the commission. The following were appointed as a deputation to wait on the Prime Minister: Messrs. Isitt, Witty, Mitchell, Savage, Brown, J. S. Dickson, Field, Williams, Thacker and Hunter.” The deputation waited on the Prime Minister, who gave it a very patient hearing, and promised it that he would confer with his colleagues. He would let the deputation know definitely by Friday whefi an opportunity would be given. It would not, in any case, be before next Wednesday. Anorher point raised by the deputation, said the Prime Minister, would be referred to the Crown law offices. PROSPECTS NOT FAVORABLE. Wellington, Oct. 26. Members again met to-day to consider racing affairs, and a deputation was appointed to see the Prime Minister this afternoon. No announcement has been made, but it is understood the deputation will suggest to Mr. Massey that he discard the Bill already introduced, and simply place before the House the commission’s report for adoption or rejection.
