BRITISH LEGAL DECISION. CAUSES CONSTERNATION. By Telegraph.— Press Assn.—Copyright. London, Oct. 25. In the teat betting case, Sutters v. Briggs, the House of Lords has now decided that the loser may legally recover betting debts paid by cheque. The decision has caused consternation among bookmakers and the betting public. It is understood that it covers the period of the last six years. The biggest blow lies in the transactions of deceased clients, whose executors are bound to take action for recovery. A conference is being held to consider the position, and pari-mutuel (totalisator) and other schemes are being evolved to overcome the difficulty-
