BEAR ATTACKS BOY.

EXCITEMENT AT THE ZOO. 1 London, Sept. 19. An exciting incident occurred in the bear pit of the London Zoological Gardens, as a result o-f which a nine-year-old boy was seriously injured, and probably will lose an arm. The lad climbed the barrier unobserved, and attempted to stroke a Polar, bear. The animal turned round and buried its teeth in the boy’s arm. Though visitors who hurried to the spot rained blows with sticks upon the bear’s head, it did not relinquish its grip until the keeper arrived. The boy was taken to the hospital. The bones of the arm were badly crushed.
