OPENING UP AGREED TO. METAL FOR LOCAL BODIES. (From Our Parliamentary Reporter.) Wellington, Last Night. Mr. R. Masters (member for Stratford) has been advised that in response to his representations, the Minister of Public Works has authorised the employment of 40 men on the opening up of quarries at Te Wera to produce metal •for local bodies and ballasting the railway line from Kohuratahi to Tahora. It is understood the men will be transferred from public works in the Taranaki district, and extra men will not be engaged.
