SMALLER PERSONNEL. 20 PER CENT. REDUCTION. LESS EXPENDITURE. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received August 11, 8.10 p.m. Tokio, August 10. . The Navy Department announces that the personnel will be reduced 20 per cent, on September 1, consequent on four battleships and twelve cruisers being transferred from the active list to coast defence. This is in pursuance of a decision to reduce naval expenditure.—Reuter Service.
