JAPANESE COMPANY FAILS. By Telegraph.—Prcas Assn—Copyright. Received August 11, 8.50 p.m. Tokio, August 10. The Kuhara Trading Company, with a capital of 10,000,000 yen, founded in 1912, one of the largest exporting firms in Japan, announces that it is closing its doors at the end of August. Its liabilities are more than 50,000,000 yen. The company is a creditor in foreign banks abroad, and therefore will not suffer a loss.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. SPANISH CABINET RESIGNS. Received August 11, 8.50 p.m. London, August 11. A Madrid telegram reports that the Spanish Cabinet has resigned to -enable the King to choose a political solution of the problem caused by events in Morocco. MUTINY IN A PRISON. Received August 11, 8.10 p.m. Vienna, August 10. Convicts in Stein prison, dissatisfied with the disciplinary measures, mutinied. Military suppressed the disorder after firing a volley, which killed three prisoners. AUSTRALIA AND THE LEAGUE. Received August 11, 5.5 p.m. London, August 10. Asked if Australia would be represented at the League of Nations meeting at Geneva in September, Mr. W. M. Hughes stated that he was endeavoring to provide a delegate, but he had no one in view yet. He added: “It certainly won’t be a Minister.” AUSTRALIAN WAR MEMORIAL. Received August 11, 5.5 p.m. • London, August 10. Arrangements have been made to erect a memorial at Villiers Bretonneau, costing Australia £lOO,OOO. Ten acres have already been purchased for the purpose, but it is now reported that the site is entirely unsuitable, is inaccessible and off the high road, and invisible to the ordinary passers-by. An official who has seen the locality reports against it. Mr. W. M. Hughes proposes to inspect it himself, and meanwhile all development is delayed.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. MAKING POISONS SAFER.
