NOTARIELLO.
THE SECOND CONCERT. The house that greeted the visiting artists at the Empire Theatre last night was a larger and more enthusiastic one that the night before, Signor Notariello being vociferously recalled again and again, while Miss R. Fox and Mr. G. Short had to respond several times to insistent demands, each of their numbers appealing by the finish of their execution. It is hardly necessary td recapitulate the programme. The encore numbers contributed by the singer contained some of the choicest of his repertoire, while the violiniste had to play as encores Drala’s “Suvenir,” and Schubert-Wilhelm j “Ave Maria.” The audience urgently recalled Mr. Short, but he was wise in declining, except after his second solo he played, in response to insistent demands, Debussy’s Golliwog’s Cake-walk. Considering that he had all the exacting accompaniments of both the other artists, the task ho set himself is easily gauged. Mr. A. P. Truda, who is directing the tour, is to be congratulated on securing such a combination. It is to be hoped he may be the means of introducing another such company, and the public may rely on his Artistic to trust that his choice will be on an equally high plane, and prove as successful and compelling in their attractive power.
