PILOT’S WONDERFUL ESCAPE. By Telegraph.—Press Associnc:on. Hastings, June 13. Lieut. L. E. Tatton, whilst making a trial local flight in an Avro machine yesterday, could not attain the altitude owing to atmospheric conditions, and in returning to the landing place the machine nose-dived about 100 fpet and crashed to the ground. Tatton was cut out of the wreckage in a semiconscious condition and motored to hospital, where is was found he had sustained a double fracture of the left arm, together with considerable bruises and shock. Jt wa® a wonderful escape. He suffered no internal injury and is making a good recovery. It is thought that the accident was due to engine trouble.
