CAUGHT BY POLICE TRAP. By Telegraph —Press Association. Hamilton, June 10. Michael George Joyce and John William M’Corkindale were discovered last night on the premises of W. Shattuck, butcher. Meat had 'been missed for three weeks and police were hidden on the premises. The men were brought before the court this morning and remanded for a week. CHARGE OF BIGAMY. Palmerston North, June 10. In the Police Court Frederick William Seaton pleaded guilty to a charga of bigamy and was committed to the ■Supreme Court at Wellington for sentence. FARMERS’ UNION CONFERENCE. Christchurch, June 10. At the Farmers’ Union Conference a remit that the preference to unionists clause in awards had outlived its usefulness and should be excluded from the remit that the Government be asked to continue the control of wheat for the 1922-23 season, an amendment was carried that the matter be referred to the branches and that the South Canterbury and Otago executives be requested to act similarly. WELLINGTON TRAMWAYMEN. Wellington, June 10. The Tramwaymen’s Union has filed an application with the registrar of industrial unions to have the local tramway dispute heard under the Labor Disputes Investigation Act. The union has taken this course owing to several conferences with the tramways management having proved abortive. The <frepute will now be heard by a committee convened by the Minister of Labor. SMUGGLERS FINED £lOO. Auckland, June 10. James Larkin and Jame 1 *?. McNally!, two members of the crew of the Tasmanaia, admitted smuggling goods, spirits, tobacco, cigarettes, etc., valued at £34, from the vessel, and were fined £lOO each or six months in gaol.
