AMERICA’S DESTINY.

CAN NO LONGER STAND ASIDE. ECONOMIC DRAWBACKS. By Telegraph.—Press Assu.—Copyright * Received June 9, 12.30 a.m. New York, June 8. Mr. Mark Sheldon (Australian Trade Commissioner), in a speech to foreign correspondents at a farewell dinner, said United States prices must come down or' European prices come up if the American economic situation is to be steadied. There could be no resumption of enormous prosperity until an adjustment was brought about. America was so big and important that it could no longer stand aside; it must either help the rest of the world, or go down with it. The coming Imperial Conference would be epoehial in effect upon the British Empire's foreign policy.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
