List was the entertaining hostess at the Y.W.C.A. campaigners! tea at the Soldiers’ Club last night, when the members of teams gathered, to give their reports on the efforts foi? the day. There were present at thd opening session the Hon. W. Nosworthy, Minister for Agriculture, Mr. S. G, Smith, M.P., and the Mayor (Mr» F. Wilson). Mr. Smith said he was awarq that there had been abroad some critic-* ism on the committee’s decision to purchase Chatsworth House, and he wished) to take this occasion to say that he had made a close investigation! into the matter and that the facts of} the result of his inquiry convinced him that the action of the committee waai, right in choosing Chatsworth House. Ha emphasised also the fact that the worlo which was being done by the campaign* ers to provide a hostel deserved thd hearty sup’port of the public, as it would supply a long felt need, and a need which has been long recognised.
