PERSONAL.

The Hon. W. Nosworthy (Minister for Agriculture) arrived in New Plymouth by the mail train last night. The Minister will open the Winter Show at the Coronation Hall this afternoon. Mr. Nosworthy goes to .Stratford to-morrow. A cable from London says the Institute of Architects has awarded a Henry Jarvis studentship at the British school at Rome to Mr. Edward Armstrong, a New Zealander.

Mr. Newton King returned to New Plymouth from Auckland by the Rarawa yesterday morning.

Mr. Maurice Nathan, one of the managing directors of Messrs. Joseph Nathan, Ltd., who has been resident in London for the past seventeen years, is at present on a visit to New Plymouth. He will be staying till the end of the week.

Long, Manaia, whilst cranking her car on Saturday had the misfortune to break her wrist. ■ The Hawera Star’s Kakaramea correspondent 'writes: It is with sincere regreat that I have to record the death of Mrs. F, .S. Tarrant, of Kakaramea, who passed away at the Patea Hospital on June 2. The deceased was ill only a few days, and her sad end haa come as a great shock to her relatives and friends. The deepest sympathy of the district is extended to her sorrowing family.
