AN ASSAULT CASE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, Feb. 16. The sequel to a dispute between two employees at the Federal Hotel was taken this morning at the Magistrate’s Court, when Frank Delsie was charged with having unlawfully wounded Clarence Hahn on February 7. Hahn gave evidence that a quarrel arose over the sale of bottles. Accused rushed at him with a knife and wounded him in the left forearm. Accused was committed for trial, bail being allowed. INCOME TAX PAYMENT. Hastings, Feb. 16. The Hastings Chamber of Commerce resolved to support the efforts of the Christchurch and Dunedin Chambers to obtain the Government’s consent to make this year’s income-tax payable in two six-monthly instalments, the concession to be granted without restrictions, so as to place all income-tax payers on tlfe same footing. In the course of the discussion it was emphasised that the collection of twelve millions in practically two months in income-tax and under the compulsory loan clauses would result in serious consequences to the industries and commerce of the Dominion. “GO SLOW” AT BURNSIDE. Dunedin, Feb. 16. The slaughtermen at Burnside freezing works are reported to have adopted the “go slow” policy as a result of the refusal of the company to dismiss a man to whose employment the union had taken exception.
